Purpose of Heart | December 31

“When he [Barnabas] came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord.”
Acts 11: 23  NKJV

This is the final week of 2010, and we have a new year before us. The experiences of the past year are registered in our souls, and some experiences are never forgotten.

Have we experienced the grace of God personally, as Barnabas had? How often did we perceive God’s nearness? How often did we receive peace and joy? How often did we notice that the Lord shielded us with His hand and protected us? All this was the grace of our God. If we recognize God’s grace, we are glad and there is no room left for despair. This is an elevating power; this provides new strength and security.

When we see the grace of God, then we are glad and long to continue with the Lord with purpose in our hearts.

CONTEMPLATION:
Take time to thank God for what he provided this year and give thanks for the path that God will lead you on in 2011.
