Recognizing my sin first | Week of February 13

2 Samuel 12:5-7 NKJV

So David’s anger was greatly aroused against the man, and he said to Nathan, “As the LORD lives, the man who has done this shall surely die! And he shall restore fourfold for the lamb, because he did this thing and because he had no pity.” Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man!”

For further understanding, reference 2 Samuel 11:14-17, 12:1-7

This story shows how difficult it is to see ourselves as we are. When we hear such a story, we can easily react in a judgmental fashion as to say that either he should be punished or how can someone do something like this.

Rather, say to yourself: Is this me?

 

Do I recognize my activity in every situation? I will focus on receiving grace for my own sin, and worry less about what others have done.
