Building up sin | Week of May 14

Ecclesiasticus 5:4 NKJV

Say not, I have sinned, and what harm hath happened unto me? For the Lord is long-suffering, He will in no wise let thee go.

In the bible verse above it says very vividly:

Do not think: ‘I have often sinned and yet no evil has befallen me.’ For although the Lord is patient, He will not let you go unpunished.
Do not be so quick to rely on forgiveness so that you may keep building sin up within.
Do not think: ‘God is very merciful; He will reconcile Himself to me no matter how much I sin.’

Is ”sin” even a topic of discussion today? Who thinks about this anymore? When do we even find it an inner need to distance ourselves from sin?

All of us are exposed to these events of our time. Wherever we have remained imperfect and where it was nevertheless the case that we allowed ourselves to fall into sin, seek the grace of the Lord and do not simply pass it by indifferently.

Here is the admonition: Do not blindly and indiscriminately give sin room within your heart.

Am I indifferent to sin? Do I expect God to forgive me without effort? I’m applying new effort today!
