The following verse (Colossians 2:15) describes the effect of Christ’s sacrifice: “[He has] disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” What are these powers and principalities? Sin - and all the influences that lead us into sin!
But through the cross, through the sacrifice of the Lord, and through the merit which He has earned for us, the powers of sin have been broken. He has disarmed and triumphed over sin’s powers, and has even made a “public spectacle” of them.
Through Christ’s sacrifice, sin no longer has any power over you. Put all failings, weaknesses, and deficiencies aside in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Sin’s powers can no longer hold a debt against you. Yes, this is a triumph! It is the victory of the Lord, which you are permitted to experience.
How much “legal indebtedness” has Christ taken on for me? How do I celebrate Christ’s victory in my life?
