Jesus Christ, our example | Week of December 18th

Galatians 4:4-5, But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

From the sermon series: Promise and preparation

In the letter to the Galatians, Apostle Paul continues in this chapter on the subject of justification, and that Christ and the gospel are greater than the law.

At just the perfect time, God sent Jesus into the world. His choice of timing didn’t mean that the world was a perfect place, but that the world was at a point where it needed a perfect Savior. Beyond the mission to save all people, Jesus came to make us sons and daughters of God. Through rebirth of water and Spirit, we became His children. Before His presence in our lives, we belonged to the world, slaves to society, and culture, and the law. But through His grace, we became free of the corruption in this world and were adopted as His children. Now, we belong to Him.

What does it mean to you that you belong to God? What can you do in your life to reflect this knowledge?
