God is with us! | Week of December 25th

Matthew 1:23, Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, “God with us”.

From the sermon series: Christmas

In this chapter, Matthew explains how the birth of Jesus came to happen in order to fulfill the prophecy made in Isaiah 7, which we also read in Matthew 1:23.

Through Jesus Christ, God became man so He could be with us. Why would He do this? Why would He leave His place by the Father’s side to enter a world filled with sin? The answer is simple: love. God’s love for His people is so deep – and the depth of His love is hard for humans to fully understand – that He wanted to be near to us again. God made a promise to humankind, a promise for a Savior, such as the one we see in Matthew 1:23. And God doesn’t break His promises, no matter how sinful we are. Because of His perfectness and His love, we are able to experience “God with us.”

Let this Christmas day be a joyful reminder of God’s love for you. Do something this week to share this joy with others.
