Pleading for guidance from the Holy Spirit | Week of June 3rd

Luke 11:13, If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!

From the sermon series: Our anticipation of the Spirit

In the verses leading up to Luke 11:13, Jesus teaches the Lord’s Prayer to the disciples. He also offers two teachings about asking for help from God and others.

This idea of praying to God and asking for help is clearly very important. When we are in need of something, we want to bring that request to God, just as a son would ask his father for bread (Luke 11:11). Prayer is a necessary component of our relationship with God. It is a gift that He has given to us so that we can communicate with Him whenever we want or need. Prayer also displays our trust in God that He will respond and answer us. Though we may not initially see or understand His response, or even agree with it, when we pray with the Holy Spirit, we are assured of God’s presence and blessing in our lives.

Journal Prompt: Consider a request that you want to bring to God. Write a prayer around this request, asking for the Holy Spirit to guide and help you.
