His glory appears | Week of December 2nd

Isaiah 60:2-3, For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

From the sermon series: The light of the world

In Isaiah 58 – 60, the freed Israelites find themselves discouraged at the state of ruin that Jerusalem is in. However, through the prophet more than a century before, God encourages His people of brighter days and their future with Him.

These verses in Isaiah 60 refer to the time when the Son of God will be sent to earth to save mankind. All people, even the Gentiles, will come to His light and will have the opportunity to dwell in His presence. As disciples of Christ today, we have already seen Christ’s light and have been given this chance to be reconciled with God. As we celebrate this time of Advent, we can praise God for the sending of His Son and His mission to save all people.

Journal Prompt: How has your life changed since you made the decision to embrace Christ’s light and live in relationship with God?
