March 19, 2020

Dear brothers and sisters,

Below are functional guidelines and updates as of Thursday, March 19, 2020:

  • Effective immediately, all congregational activities, including divine services, are suspended through the end of March. The District Apostle and Apostles will reassess on March 30th and announce further direction for April and thereafter. If circumstances warrant it, the reassessment would occur earlier.
  • This Sunday, March 22, the District Apostle will broadcast a recorded word service for the entire USA district. This will be accessible without a password at nacusaonline.org. The broadcast will start at 10:10am in each time zone, with the service starting at 10:30am. It is strongly encouraged that members connect from home at their respective time zones only. Connecting only during your local time zone helps accommodate appropriate internet bandwidth given that many more people are home and utilizing internet networks. The service will also be available to watch on-demand starting Sunday afternoon on the church’s website (www.nac-usa.org) and YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/newapostolicchurchusa).
  • For Sunday, March 29, live word services will be conducted at the regular NAC-USA Online locations so that members can connect from home. No other congregations in the United States will be open. It is strongly encouraged that members only connect to the service in their respective time zones.
  • Small groups forming, or continuing to meet, virtually is encouraged. Many smart phones allow for a "host" to add additional callers to a phone call, thus creating a pseudo conference call. Additionally, where possible, technology such as Google Hangouts, FaceTime, Skype, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp or other video call methods can be used to create a small group via video.
  • Funerals, if any, are to be handled on a case-by-case basis (rector should consult with district rector, Bishop, Apostle) in a family setting, with the possibility of a memorial service being scheduled for later.
  • To remind our members how much they are loved by God and us, it would be wise for each congregation to have a plan for regular communication with seniors and other high-risk individuals to make sure they have adequate medicine, food, etc. The CDC suggests that people 65 and older and those other high-risk individuals have a 14-day supply of prescription and over the counter medications, and that they learn how to get food delivered.

With love,

LR Kolb
