The strength to do all things | September 11

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Philippians 4: 13  NKJV

This Bible verse is quite simple, yet it is a powerful word filled with much blessing. In what ways does Christ strengthen us? First, we receive strength through His word. Also, in every service we come under His refreshing grace. We pray to our Heavenly Father in Christ’s name; that empowers us. In addition, the guidance of the Holy Spirit in us builds our endurance. Our Father has various ways to fortify us—let us always accept this Godly power.

We “can do all things.” Let us look to the spiritual things in order that we can accomplish that which pleases our God and which leads to perfection. What are these things? We can be steadfast in hope and confidence, and we can be strong and able to overcome temptations. We also need to cope with pain and sorrow, though it is not easy. Let us take Job for an example. Even in his suffering he was able to say “Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?” (Job 2: 10, NLT). When we apply the strength of Christ, we are able to bear our sorrows, forgive one another, and even give testimony of God’s grace and love. Ultimately, we can serve our Lord in many ways, all through the power of Christ.

On the day of the Lord, no one will be able to say “I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t forgive. I couldn’t serve the Lord.” The Lord Jesus will reply, “All things could have been done because I wanted to strengthen you.” How would you respond?
