To make impure, pure | September 18

“We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.”
1 John 5: 18  NKJV

A portion of the above passage reads, “…but he who has been born of God keeps himself….” This applies to those who have been born out of water and Spirit. Because of this, God wants to keeps us safe, and it is up to us to keep ourselves with Him.

Remaining pure is one way in which we can keep ourselves with God. Perhaps the question comes, “How do I know that I am pure?” Imagine that God could directly look into your heart. Would you feel comfortable with everything He sees, or would you rather He not know some of your thoughts? If the latter is true, then the heart is not as pure as it should be, and we are asked by our Father to clear out what is not pure. To help us attain a pure heart, we can use the offer of grace through Jesus Christ today.

Purification is an ongoing process.  Consider the steps you take in your life to purify your heart.
