Success without a doubt | October 16

“Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshipped Him; but some doubted.”
Matthew 28: 16-17  NKJV

It is very important today that we do not doubt, as these disciples of Jesus’ time did. Instead, let us rid ourselves of all sluggishness and renew our resolution to keep our faith alive. We must not distance ourselves from the Lord, nor should we adopt a “wait-and-see” attitude when it comes to listening to His word. Let us remain humble and believe immediately, leaving no room for doubt.

On one occasion the Lord appeared to the disciples on the Sea of Tiberias. They had fished all night without catching anything, and Jesus said to them: “Children, have you any food?” When they said they hadn’t, He replied: “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some” (cf. John 21: 3 –6). They followed His instructions and caught so much that they could not pull it in by themselves.

In life it often seems that despite our best planning, our efforts are in vain. We have “fished all night,” but have come up with nothing. If that is the case, let us try doing things a little differently. Let us listen to what the Lord has to say on the subject! The instructions may be as simple as “casting the net on the other side.” The disciples did not stop long to think about these words, but simply followed the Lord’s instructions—and succeeded. We will always find that success is bound to follow if we are humble and heed God’s instruction without doubt. May we all have such experiences again and again!

Have I asked the Lord for His guidance in my life? Am I truly listening to His instructions?
