Determining what's important | February 13

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
1 Thessalonians 5: 16 -18  NKJV

What makes your life joyful? Answers to this may include having a stable job, high pay, recreation, sports, or family. While the possibilities are seemingly endless, these examples can also bring us to points of sadness in life. What happens when we are disappointed or hurt in life’s activities, no matter what they are? We become despondent, sad, and lose our joy for a length of time. The question then becomes: ”What is truly important in life?”

What if someone would tell you that you could have joy all of the time? Would our thoughts and remarks be sarcastic and cynical? Would we doubt this to be true? Our loving Father tells us that we can have true joy, and have it always, when we live our life with Him. He is constant and always with us, as He has called us to be His children. He shows Himself to us in ways we can hardly believe to be true, gives grace in all things, and loves us eternally! This is a constant source of joy for us! In good and bad days we have His nearness to support us and carry us through! Let this be our focus in life.

CONTEMPLATION:
The events of life can certainly disappoint us in many ways. Consider the nearness of God today and experience the joy of His love and grace.
