Humble love brings future glory | February 20

“And they were greatly astonished, saying among themselves, ‘Who then can be saved?’ But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.’”
Mark 10: 26-27  NKJV

A rich man came to Jesus and asked him what he should do to inherit eternal life (v. 17). The rich man said to Christ that he had followed the commandments since his youth. Jesus then told him to sell what he had, give to the poor, and that he would have treasure in heaven by following Him. This rich man was very sad at hearing this, since there was so much he would have to give up. Christ commented to His disciples that it is very difficult for someone with wealth to come into the kingdom of God. The disciples then asked, “Who then can be saved?” Christ’s response was, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God, all things are possible.”

With people there are always restrictions, things that are just impossible to do. Yet with God, all things are possible through His grace and majesty! By humbling ourselves, we come to see that He will bless us because we recognize His power. We do not humble ourselves simply for the selfish desire for blessing, but rather do so because we love and adore Him. We can receive great strength and comfort from knowing that all things are possible through God’s grace—even worthiness for his Son’s return!

CONTEMPLATION:
How can I humble myself this week before God to show my true love and adoration for Him?
