Let us affirm our decision | February 27

“By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin.”
Hebrews 11: 24-25  NKJV

Even though he could have had a wonderful life at Pharaoh’s court, Moses gave up everything to be an Israelite. The reason he chose to suffer with the people of God, rather than enjoy the passing riches of the court, was because he looked to the end, to the reward God would give him. He made the right decision.

We have also made a decision—to follow the teachings laid down by Jesus and His apostles. But we must stick to this choice! We have to prove ourselves every day and decide anew. When Satan tempts us, when we are overcome with anger or envy, when our natural inclination is to postpone making a clear resolve—then let us pray to our Heavenly Father to help us. We can ask Him to give us strength to overcome the urge to act on these feelings and to give us the wisdom to make the right decision. Once we have made our choice, the Lord will send His angels to serve us, just as He did to Jesus when He decided to refuse Satan’s temptations (cf. Matthew 4: 10-11). Then we will receive peace of heart and His blessing.

What guides our decision making?  This week, try to ask yourself, “what will bring me closer to God?” when making choices.
