Assured of salvation

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory.”
1 Timothy 3:16

The Christmas story is of an event that occurs every day on Earth—that is, the birth of a child. The birth of a child always brings joy and hope, but often there can also be concern regarding the child’s future. The birth of Jesus is distinct from typical births because the future of this child had been foretold by prophets, promises to Mary, and the declarations of the angels after His birth.

All of theses promise are fulfilled by the person Jesus, who is the Son of God. The certainty of God’s promise of Salvation for believers strengthens us in our life long journey of faith. It can compel us to endure faithfully, and wait patiently for the return of Christ. As we wait, we do so actively, striving to live as Jesus lived, and thus testifying of this truth we carry in our hearts.

1 Timothy 3:16 lists 6 descriptive statements about God, beginning with “God was manifested in the flesh” and ending with “received up in glory.” List these 6 statements in your own words and reflect on how each one affects your life and faith.
