Belief in Scripture and the word

John 2:22, “Therefore, when He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this to them; and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had said.”

From the sermon series: Eastertide

Before Jesus walked the earth, no man had ever been brought back to life. Now Jesus, a man who had brought another back to life, had risen Himself! This fact has often been refuted. In the time of the first apostles who had seen the risen Lord, the apostles were accused of lying. Today this fundamental aspect of Christianity is still called into question by many. But, by faith in this miraculous act of God, the Scriptures come to life.

The credibility of Scripture rests on a belief in Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection. When we believe this, we believe in the testimony of Scripture and can experience the power of the word of the sermon that is built on the foundation of Scripture. Through this process we can be transformed into the likeness of Christ.
