Accepting salvation

Philippians 2:5-7, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.”

From the sermon series: Christmastide

Philippians 2:5-7 captures a very unique aspect of the Christian faith—that our God, who we understand to be One God over all gods, became flesh to dwell among us. This is an incredible act of humility for an infinite God. The Creator came to dwell with His created, and lived like the created. God became Man so that we could tangibly encounter how to live and love well, but even more paramount is the salvation that was made accessible through this encounter with God in flesh.

To receive salvation is a wonderful, glorious, infinite gift from our Creator. Salvation includes a call to renounce our own ideas about truth and accept God alone as truth. Further, we must be prepared to forgive our neighbors with love and understanding.

When have you had to give up your own idea of the truth? What ideas do you still fight with?
