Jesus Christ: Son of God and Prophet

Deuteronomy 18:15, “The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear.”

From the sermon series: Time of fulfilment

Moses is pretty well known as a leader of the Israelite people, but he is also understood as a prophet of God—an exceptionally significant prophet as well. Many times in the Old Testament, scripture indicates that their will one day be a greater prophet, and we can now see that has been fulfilled in Christ Jesus. It is through Jesus that we hear the will of God, receive the law of love, and encounter the grace of God.

Sometimes our modern minds can be wary of the term prophesy, but we do not need to be. Prophesy often means telling of future events, but it can also mean a simple declaration of God’s truth to the world. To this responsibility, all Christians are called. In a way, we must all find our way to be “prophets.”
