God’s word remains | Week of March 16

Isaiah 55:10-11, For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

From the sermon series: Living the gospel

Through Isaiah the prophet, the Lord tells His people of the abundant life they are invited to through Him.

When we consider creation, we see God’s abundance and His promises being fulfilled. The image painted in Isaiah 55:10-11 shows us this: when it rains and snows, the earth is watered and produces food for people to eat. God created this system to work perfectly so that His people can fulfill their physical need of hunger. In the same way, God has also created a way for our need for salvation to be fulfilled – through the sacrifice of His Son. And because God is the One who made this way for us, we know that it will be accomplished. We know that we are saved through Him.

Journal Prompt: Consider the promises that God has made and has fulfilled in your life. Write a prayer thanking God for His promises, which He always keeps.
