From the sermon series: Jerusalem
In these verses from Luke 19, Jesus approaches the city of Jerusalem. Though the people around Him were rejoicing over His coming, He wept for the people of Jerusalem because they did not understand what was necessary for their eternal life.
Jesus had spent time with these people. He taught them about God, the Father, and what pleases Him. He shared and displayed that He is the bread of life, the true Son of God. And yet, many people still did not understand that Jesus Christ was the way to eternal salvation. Sometimes, we also get distracted and start to convince ourselves that other things might save us, such as just coming to church or being a good person. This week, as we approach the days that commemorate Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and His victory over death, let’s remember that He is our salvation. It is only through His sacrifice and the grace of God that we have a path to eternal life with Him.
