Lent is the 40-day season prior to Easter (minus the Sundays) in consideration of the days Jesus spent in the wilderness. It is a time of remembrance to reflect on what Jesus has done for all through His sacrifice on the cross and resurrection from the dead. This time of reflection helps us to grow in our understanding of the love of Christ and deepens our relationship with God. These 40 days will serve to prepare us for a more meaningful celebration of remembrance on Good Friday and Easter.
What should we do during these 40 days of anticipation? Over the centuries, according to Christian tradition, three actions stand out as staples of Lent – prayer, fasting, and alms-giving. Each of these offers the opportunity for personal reflection that serves to edify our relationship with the Lord.
Below are some featured tools to aid individuals and families during this season of remembrance and reflection.
